Can You Use Well Water or Pool Water for a Water Slide?
Yes — most water slides run great on well water, and city/municipal water is ideal. Pool water isn't recommended (its chlorine, pumps, and fittings aren't made for it). All you really need is a standard garden-hose connection with steady pressure within reach of the setup. Here's what works, what to avoid, and how to prep.
What water source does a water slide need?
A regular garden-hose spigot with steady pressure. We connect our hose to your outdoor faucet, and the slide's built-in system keeps the surface wet. You don't need any special plumbing — just a working outdoor tap within reach (we bring hose; a very long run may need yours too). It's the same simple hookup covered in how to prepare your yard.
Can you use well water for a water slide?
Yes. Well water works fine — it's just water. If your well has low pressure or runs low under heavy use, tell us when you book so we can plan (a shorter run cycle or a lower-flow slide like the Cascade 15 or Humpback 16). Most homes on wells have zero issues.
Can you use pool water for a water slide?
We don't recommend it. Pool water carries chlorine and chemistry that isn't meant to spray on kids continuously, and pool pumps and fittings don't match our hose setup. Stick to your garden hose. If you'd like a poolside layout, tell us and we'll position the slide safely back from the pool edge.
How much water does a water slide use?
One hose's worth: the slide is fed from your garden hose, and nothing is recirculated. How much that comes to depends on how far the tap is open and how long the slide runs — how much water does a water slide use shows how to measure it on your own meter.
What if my spigot is far from the setup spot?
Tell us the distance when you book. We carry hose, but very long runs (or low pressure) are easier to plan for in advance. Sometimes nudging the slide closer to the tap, or choosing a mid-size unit like the Breakwater 18 or Reefline 18, solves it cleanly. Big units like the Thunderhead 28 want good flow, so flag any pressure concerns.
The bottom line
City water is ideal, well water works great, pool water is a no — and all you truly need is a garden-hose spigot with steady pressure nearby. Not sure about your water setup? Tell us when you book and we'll confirm, or check your date to get started.
FAQ
Do water slides need a special water hookup? No — a standard garden-hose spigot with steady pressure is all it takes.
Can I use well water? Yes. Just flag low pressure or a shallow well when you book so we can plan the run cycle.
Can I use pool water? No — chlorine and pool pumps aren't suited to it. Use your garden hose instead.
What if the tap is far from the slide? Tell us the distance at booking; we bring hose and plan the run so pressure stays steady.
